Boys Varsity Soccer
|Anderson High School||4|
|Milford High School||1|
The Redskins hit the road to take on ECC foes the Milford Eagles in the first of a 5 game streak of away games. This would be the boys only contest on a grass field for the season so it would be interesting to see how they adapted. It didn't take long to get an answer as Anderson went on the attack after Milford had a few long range shots in the first 5 minutes. Sam Kunkemoeller, Mike Oetgen, and Patrick Dames fired off shots that were saved well by the Milford keeper. In quick succession Brevin Andreadis and Sam hit shots over the top and Brevin smacked a header on frame. We finally broke through in the 27th minute when we won a penalty kick and Sam stepped up and converted into the left hand corner. We stretched the lead to 2-0 a few minutes later when Brevin hit an overlapping Brodie Sallows with a slick back heel pass and Brodie did the rest with an excellent finish into the lower right corner. The half would end with the Skins holding a 2-0 advantage.
There would be no letdown for Anderson as they continued to press the action with some great combinations and creative play. Joey kicked off the scoring when he picked up Jack's rebounded shot and slammed him a short range shot to make it 3-0 just six minutes into the half. It looked like we were going to make it 4-0 when Joey found Sam with an excellent long through ball only to see it called back for offside. Milford would pull one back when they scored off tremendous long range shot with 23 minutes left. We answered right back when Brodie laid off a great pass to Jack who went in 1:1 and beat the Eagles keeper with a shot in the lower right hand corner. Despite a flurry of chances that is how the game would end at 4-1. The Redskins move to 3-0 in ECC play and 7-1 overall. Next up for the boys is an away game as they play neighborhood rival McNick at on Saturday 9/16. Go Skins!
