GAME SUMMARY

The first ECC game of the season for the Redskins had them traveling to Withrow to take on the Tigers at their historic stadium; always a great venue to watch a game. The boys took a little time to get untracked but once they did the goals began to add up quickly. First up for the Skins was Patrick Dames who gathered a nice through pass from Brodie Sallows and slipped it past the keeper 13 minutes into the half. For the next goal the following words will become very familiar – Sam Kunkemoeller takes a well-placed corner kick and Mat Fickenworth slams a header into the back of the net. That happened 3 times over the course of the game- twice in the first half and once in the second as Matt ends up with a hat trick and Sam ends up with 4 assists on the evening! The fourth goal of the first half was the result of some nice build up play between Brevin Andreadis and a slick back heel from Brodie to Joey Buscani who took a touch and then buried a shot in the upper right hand corner and it was 4-0 at the half.

The second half was more of the same for Anderson as Brodie chipped the keeper after controlling a loose ball, Matt scored on the aforementioned header, and Jack Vogele added 2 goals to his totals in rapid succession. The final score was 8-0 as the entire roster saw plenty of action and Billy Southard and Alec Polster combined for another clean sheet, not without a few moments of action though as Billy made a nice save in the first half and Alec was called upon to make 2 good saves in the second. Next up for Anderson is a home game against Springboro on Saturday, 9/2 with a 7:00 PM kickoff.

An important note here as we want to give the Withrow players and their coaching staff full credit for the effort displayed on Thursday night. Our fans acknowledged that as they give the Tiger players a standing ovation as they came off the field after the final whistle. The Withrow players played hard, displayed some great teamwork, and never hung their heads no matter what the score was. Best of luck to them and their coaches as they go through the season.
